Bringing the big picture into focus

Financial decisions can feel like walking through fog: investment choices, taxes, equity compensation, and saving for what’s next can all blur together and feel high-stakes. For many of us, the answer isn’t to hand everything over to an advisor and hope for the best, because that can create a sense of distance from our own money and decisions. Instead, the focus at Branch & Bloom is on partnership and education, so you learn to skillfully manage what you can control and build resilient strategies to address what you can’t. That virtuous cycle of clarity, confidence, and learning is what financial planning should be.

"I love sharing new information with clients - the concepts that create a “lightbulb” moment. That’s where confidence starts to grow: you see how the pieces fit, you ask better questions, and your plan evolves with you."

Comprehensive Financial Planning

The introspective, highly collaborative work that goes into building a financial plan together is deeply personal. For each client, we use customized visual tools to help you understand your relationship with money, see the big picture clearly, and create a holistic strategy to reach your goals.

Cash Flow

Cash flow touches every part of your financial life, and money can move through your accounts so quickly that it’s easy to lose track of where it’s going. I’ll work closely with you to bring your cash flow into focus and ensure it’s in the right places to support investments, taxes, a cash reserve, and your long-term goals.

Tax Planning

Complex financial lives require ongoing tax planning, so more of your money is available for your goals. I’ll work with you and your tax professional to make tax-aware decisions across your accounts and investments, identifying tax-efficient strategies when appropriate and thoughtfully integrating your charitable giving intentions.

Retirement Planning

Whether you’re years away from retirement, getting close, or already retired, we’ll collaborate on a plan to align your savings, investments, taxes, and insurance with your risk tolerance and big‑picture goals. We’ll consider retirement income and distribution strategies, and how changes to variables such as inflation, your asset allocation, or spending rate can shape your path through retirement.

Investment Analysis

Investments should reflect your goals, comfort with risk, and need for liquidity, so you can stay invested over the long term. I’ll help clarify what risk means to you, review how your current asset allocation is performing relative to its risk, and make recommendations, so you aren’t overly concentrated in a few stocks or sectors and you feel good about your portfolio.

Estate Planning

Estate planning is about creating peace of mind for you and the people you care about. While I don't provide legal advice, we’ll work together to think through the “what ifs,” discuss potential estate tax exposure, and help you keep your beneficiary designations, trustees, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives aligned with your wishes.

College Savings

If funding education for your children or grandchildren (or perhaps for yourself) is part of your priorities, I’ll estimate how much you may need and explore ways to save toward that goal. I’ll walk you through tax‑advantaged accounts, financial aid considerations, and sensible funding and withdrawal strategies, so education savings fits realistically into your broader plan.

Insurance

Insurance is a key part of a broader risk management strategy to protect what you’ve built. While I don't sell insurance products or receive commissions, I’ll review your existing life, health, disability, long‑term care, liability, home, and auto policies with you to ensure your coverage supports your goals and that your insurance dollars are well-spent.

Financial Goals

Your money should reflect what matters most to you. I’ll work with you to clarify what you want to accomplish, map out the time and resources required, and build a practical plan so your financial life more fully reflects your values and priorities.

Risk Management

Risk management evaluates how prepared you are for the major events that could seriously disrupt your financial life, such as premature death, disability, property and casualty losses, and cybersecurity threats. I’ll help you assess these exposures and strengthen your defenses.

The Branch & Bloom Process

The planning process is collaborative and paced so that you have time to ask questions, reflect, and implement steps between meetings. A comprehensive plan typically involves five to six topic‑specific meetings over several months.

Exploratory Call

I start with a conversation to get to know you, your goals, and what’s motivating you to seek planning support. Once I understand your planning needs, I’ll send a personalized proposal for services and fees.

Getting Started

When you decide to move forward, you sign an Advisory Client Agreement and share key financial documents, so we can build a clear picture of your current financial picture as a foundation for your goals.

Discovery meeting

I begin every client relationship by understanding your values, goals, and history with money. I also review the information you’ve provided to confirm our understanding of your financial details.

Cash Flow Analysis

I review how money moves through your life: income, expenses, and current savings. I focus on what’s available for saving and investing, the strength of your emergency fund, and near-term cash needs.

Financial Independence

In a collaborative planning session, we'll use software to explore what-if questions related to work-optional scenarios. Together, we'll test how different factors affect your long-term plan.

Investment Analysis

We discuss what risk means to you and any investment concepts you’d like to better understand. You receive an assessment of your current portfolio and recommendations to better support your goals.

Tax planning

I review your tax returns to understand your current tax situation and look for planning opportunities, including tax optimization, Roth strategies, and the tax implications of equity compensation.

Risk management and insurance

I review your existing insurance coverage to identify gaps and overlaps and discuss ways to reduce risk, including liability coverage and cybersecurity and credit-monitoring practices.

Estate Planning

We explore the legacy you want to leave and the intentions you’d like reflected in your estate plan. We discuss trusts, powers of attorney, charitable giving, and working with an estate planning attorney.

Each engagement concludes with an Implementation Plan that outlines what to address now, soon, and later, so you know exactly where to focus first.
